Its TV people

I have been reading intently the comments on the Offspring FB page this week about the ‘who will die’ episode and really can’t believe the reactions. The ‘I’m never watching Offspring again if Patrick dies’ comment has been flowing with regular monotony. Don’t get me wrong – I love Offspring and have done so since the beginning. I remember when Nina was having the on again off again thing with Patrick and the comments that were fast and furious on twitter for Nina to leave him as he was ‘no good’. What a turnaround (thanks to the writers), everyone loved Patrick and now his character is dead.

This, after all, is a Television show! No one has died really. What a whole new cauldron of story lines this opens up letting some great actors show a gamete of emotions and depth of the characters they play. Look at this year alone – we have had all the other cast in turmoil except for Nina (discounting pocket phone calls and counselling sessions).

I am quite sure who ever casts for the show will find a new hunky male to fit in somewhere for all the desperate women out there who only watch the show to perve (this also comes from comments posted) or maybe they can just watch old episodes to get their fix.

Maybe we will see more of Cherie and Darcy next season as they support Nina, maybe Geraldine will pull herself back to a mother role or fall totally apart or Billie will get her act together for the sake of someone else’s needs not her own destruction. Jimmy and Zara could grow up and have an adult relationship, not forgetting Clegg and his pseudo ‘God Father’ role. How will Phillip react and what will happen with his now defunct relationship with Geraldine. There are now so many places for this story to go.

I shall be watching intently next week for some clues as to how the next season might start.

RIP Patrick Reid (even though we know you will be there in spirit next year so to speak)
