Lunch in the Surry Hills

I usually spend my day confined to my home office banging away on my computer but yesterday I took a break.

I have been working with a lovely lady called Gai so last week we decided to catch up for lunch and discuss some new work opportunities. Working from our respective home bases we have been associated for a few months now but have only met up twice; this is one of the problems of working from home. We are in constant contact via Skype, text, phone, email but the face to face thing just doesn't happen often enough.

I travelled by train (much quicker, cheaper and no hassles parking) but as Gai was coming from the lower north side she drove. We had a wonderful lunch, discussed work and a little of our histories – a very much needed ‘get to know you’ time. Our hour turned into two and as luck would have it Gai didn’t get a parking fine.

I did come home to spend several hours in my office but I’m sure this mid day break helped.

If you’re ever in Surry Hills around lunch time I can recommend ‘The Royal Exhibition Hotel’ on the corner of Chalmers and Devonshire streets (right opposite Central Station exit) for a tasty, healthy lunch with nice wine by the glass.
