What the hell is a Free Radical?

We here all these terminologies bandied around so often but do we really know what they mean and more so what they do, why they occur and how to combat them.

Free Radicals are unstable chemicals that are generated when the body is exposed to stress. We all know about the stress caused by our busy lives, relationships, money issues etc but it is not necessarily this type of stress. Smoking, pollution, household cleaners, industrial chemicals, pesticides the list goes on, these also cause stress to our bodies. The Free Radical cell has an unpaired electron and looks for another electron to bond with; this causes the cell to become unstable or oxidised. These damaged cells are often found in the linings of blood vessels. Free radical activity is a normal part of the body process but due to our toxic surroundings this is increased and this is the reason why we seem to be fighting a losing battle.

Good nutrition is the body’s ammunition against this. Antioxidants neutralise Free Radicals so a diet high in Antioxidants is essential. This includes lots of fresh fruit and vegetables; the problem with this is that our soils have become overused and mineral deficient. Up to 90% of people are lacking in essential vitamins and minerals. Many diets also contain high proportions of processed food which contributes to the free radical problem via additives, pesticides, hormones and antibiotics.

This can be overcome with the key being to keep nutritional and antioxidant levels above the toxic load to stay in the healthy zone.
Firstly by reducing the amount of toxic exposure in the home where ever possible, secondly by eating a healthy diet with unprocessed fresh organic foods and filtered water. Lastly to overcome the lacking nutrients in our soils (world wide) is to use a super antioxidant supplement. Any supplement MUST be natural not synthetic (I can’t stress this enough).

The Cambridge University Study reported in the Lancet medical journal states that antioxidants reduce the death from heart attack by a massive 77%!

“Living in a modern society with its vast array of chemicals & poisons means an ever increasing number of free radicals, and therefore an ever increasing rate of free radical based disease. If you want optimum health, if you really want to take those extra years and want them good quality years, I believe in this day and age, that we need extra help from supplementation. The extra benefits of taking a super antioxidant is that you have stronger, more powerful, better tested antioxidants.”     Dr Ross Walker – Cardiologist.

For those who don’t know I am involved with a company that supplies natural supplements (as well as Household & Personal Products) that do not use thousands of these chemicals that most of our major brands use so you might think this is a biased opinion. I can assure you it is not as I was the one feeling unwell with no answers from the medical profession, my friend was involved with this company and suggested I give it a go. At that stage I had nothing to lose and seeing modern medicine has been around for a couple of hundred years and natural remedies have been around for thousands I gave it a go and guess what – it worked! This is the reason why I am involved and why I can passionately ask you to consider how this can help you or others you care about.
