Journalism at its best – NOT!!!
As Sunday
rolls around again I wake at 5am (bloody body clock), make coffee and sit at
the kitchen table for my Sunday morning peruse of the news sites.
I open the
Telegraph site to see a picture of last week’s scantily clad model of the ‘average
weight’ to see the same lady pictured fully clothed asking if ‘we’ still think she’s
fat because ‘they’ were “stunned at last week’s reaction”.
"I
don't think I am fat, so it doesn't bother me if people say that I am because
it's not the truth for me," Ward said. "I thought I was just pretty
average. I know I'm not a supermodel, but I know I'm not completely hideous
either."
Well said! I would prefer to know how her blood pressure,
cholesterol, triglyceride, fitness etc. are, as this would be a better
indication of her health. We spend hours looking at unachievable bodies for the
majority on our TV’s and in print media. Some of us are top heavy, others are
bottom heavy but still healthy. Why don’t our wonderful publications
concentrate on this; just because you are 170cm tall and a size 8 doesn’t mean
you are healthy!
As I
continue to read down the stories I then see ‘Manly council are going to give
homeless people wheelie bins for their possessions’, not saying this is bad but
maybe a warm dry place to sleep and food would be better. Write articles on the
charitable organisations that help the most wanting in our community and
possibly way we the public can help. We all understand they need money but not
everyone is in a position to be able to do this so what about coming up with
other ways.
Continuing
down the page I see a large photo of Tracy Grimshaw with the headline –
ACA's Tracy Grimshaw's rant about Chrissie
Swan was pure hypocrisy, writes Ros Reines
“IT'S frankly a bit rich for the
queen bee of tabloid television, Nine's Tracy Grimshaw, to take the moral high
ground over what happened when an Australian Women's Weekly cover story on
Chrissie Swan and her family turned ugly on the magazine's website (which by
the way is owned by Nine Entertainment).”
I hope Tracy your remuneration is
equal to the responsibility that Ms Reins has bestowed on you. I cannot believe
this crap from an entertainment journo famous only, in my mind, for losing 20kg
after Brian McFadden and Kyle Sanderlands (glass houses Kyle!) referred to her
size unkindly to say the least. Tracy I’m sure is not responsible for all ‘Nine
Entertainment’ public comment nor was it within her power to delete the cruel
public comment against Chrissie but what she did was defend another in her
position of public prominence.
Not even going to comment on the
Grant Denyer headline ‘Sun may set on Diva Ways’
Leave it alone Sunday Telegraph! Over
this most pathetic journalism. On a positive note it must be a slow news day;
nothing of importance to write about and the photo's used of both ladies are beautiful.
