Spring is coming so let’s brighten up the House!

Slight change of pace today! I am currently having some work done in my back yard; a new garden shed as I have too much ‘stuff’ in the garage and a new narrow garden so I can plant some more Jasmine to cover the only bit of ugly fence left that you can see. When it’s completed I’ll share the process and outcome.

This project is one that I have been contemplating for quite some time as for some unknown reason I find my four bedroom home too small???? Last weekend my Baby decided to clean out her room (at long last) and hopefully she will keep it clean. On Monday she came home with new sheets, doona cover and cushions and is looking for some hooks for her wall – I’m so happy that she is now taking an interest in her environment.
There is something about the feeling that spring is coming. My home is always a work in progress (possibly due to being in the industry for most of my life) so I thought I would share some trends that could give your place a lift as well.

Featured wallpaper | A patterned panel will add glamour and the impression of an elongated space – a more affordable change than a renovation! Centrepoint Medallion wallpaper in Ink Blue-On-Flat White by Florence Broadhurst, from Signature Prints. (homelife.com.au)

Framed collectables | Open your mind to possibilities: frames don’t just have to hold artworks, they can display almost anything you like. Particularly effective are pieces collected on travels – such as this ethnic skirt (stylist’s own). (homelife.com.au)

Seeing red | Fresh paint brightens anything, so salvage a seat with a new hue. Remember to spray-paint in a well-ventilated room and apply from a good distance, to avoid patchiness. Second-hand chair, from Heritage Building Centre; painted in White Knight ‘Squirts’ spray-paint in Cherry Red, from Bunnings Warehouse. (homelife.com.au)
